Field sales management

Software for field sales teams that actually get used.

Field sales software fails for one reason more than any other: it costs the rep more time than it gives them. Turtle Sales is built so recording a visit takes a single tap, works with no signal, and produces the map, the KPIs and the commission math your managers need without anyone typing a report at the end of the day.

  • One tap per visit

If logging a door takes a form, it stops happening.

  • Works offline

Dead zones queue on device and upload on reconnect.

  • Flat rate pricing

Up to 25 members, no per seat licences.

Field sales is not one job

The term covers several operations that need genuinely different tools. Start by naming yours.

Door to door canvassing teams in solar, roofing, home security and pest control work anonymous addresses at volume. Their metric is knock to sale conversion, their bottleneck is territory coverage, and their software has to make recording a fifteen second interaction nearly free.

Route based outside sales reps manage fifty named accounts and care about visit frequency, route efficiency and account history. Retail execution crews audit shelf placement and need photo capture and structured surveys. These are real categories with real tools, and they are not what a canvassing platform is for.

Turtle Sales is built for the first group. If your reps are working addresses rather than accounts, and your day is measured in doors rather than appointments, this is the shape of software you want. If you are running a route based outside sales team with named accounts, a route planning tool will fit you better, and we would rather say so here than in month three.

What to hold field sales software to

Six things separate software that gets adopted from software that gets abandoned.

  • Capture cost measured in seconds

The single strongest predictor of adoption. If recording a visit takes longer than the visit's administrative value, reps route around it and your data becomes fiction.

  • Genuine offline capability

Not a cached read only view. The app has to accept writes with no connection, hold them safely, and sync without anyone remembering to press a button.

  • GPS on the record itself

A visit without coordinates cannot answer geographic questions. Coverage, territory performance and route density all depend on the location living on the record.

  • Territory as a first class object

Drawn on a map and assigned to a person, not simulated with a text field. Otherwise overlap is discovered by two reps meeting on the same porch.

  • Compensation in the same system

When commission is calculated somewhere else, the two records drift and the disagreement costs more than the tool. Rates and payouts belong next to the sales that generated them.

  • Pricing that does not punish growth

Per seat licensing turns every new hire into a procurement decision. In a category with real turnover, that shapes behaviour badly.

How to run the evaluation

Most demos are won by the product with the best screens. Run the trial in a way that tests the parts that decide adoption.

Put it in the hands of two reps for a full week, not a manager for an afternoon. Adoption is decided at the door, and no amount of dashboard quality compensates for a capture flow that costs ten seconds too many.

Test the offline path deliberately. Put the phone in airplane mode, record five doors, close the app, reopen it, then reconnect. Confirm all five arrive with correct coordinates. Vendors describe offline support in very different ways and the only reliable check is this one.

Price the tool at the headcount you expect in twelve months, not the headcount you have today. Per seat pricing that looks reasonable at six reps often stops looking reasonable at twenty, and switching costs are highest exactly when you are growing fastest.

Finally, ask what happens to your data if you leave. Export format, whether GPS coordinates come with it, and how long it takes. A vendor who answers this cleanly is telling you something about the rest of the relationship.

Frequently asked questions

What is field sales software?

Software that manages the work of reps who sell in person rather than from a desk. For canvassing teams that means recording visits with GPS, mapping territory coverage, tracking conversion rates, scheduling workdays and calculating commission on closed sales.

What is the difference between field sales software and a CRM?

A CRM tracks a pipeline of named accounts and opportunities. Field sales software tracks physical visits across geography. The unit of work is different, which is why a map, GPS on every record and territory assignment are core rather than optional.

Does field sales software need to work offline?

For door to door and rural route teams, yes. Reps regularly work in basements, stairwells and dead zones. If the app cannot accept a record without a connection, those visits go unlogged and your coverage and conversion numbers are built on an incomplete denominator.

How is Turtle Sales priced?

A free plan for a solo rep with a personal sales map, and an Organization plan at $70 CAD per month for up to 25 members with no per seat fees. Six month and annual billing is discounted at checkout. Enterprise is custom and sales assisted.

Is Turtle Sales right for route based outside sales?

It is built for door to door and canvassing teams working addresses at volume. Teams managing a small book of named accounts on a fixed route are usually better served by a route planning tool, and we would rather point that out early.

Do you have mobile apps?

Yes, native iOS and Android. Reps use the mobile app in the field to record doors, view the map, check commissions, see their schedule and message teammates. Managers work from the web dashboard.
